Modernize FileNet P8 with IBM Cloud Pak for Automation, IBM Containers
Rapid deployments, faster and cheaper upgrades, easier management, lower risk, less downtime, more efficient use of resources. No doubt, the benefits of containers are enticing, and frankly, containerization is where IBM is going. While traditional VM-based implementations aren’t disappearing anytime soon, some IBM products and functionality exist only on containers now, and that will eventually become the norm.
As a 25-year IBM business partner, we’re impressed with IBM’s Cloud Pak for Automation and feel it brings significant benefits and flexibility for FileNet customers. We especially like these features and benefits:
- Embedded Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning
- Governance integrated throughout
- Flexible licensing
- Rapid and flexible deployment options
- Smarter workflow capabilities
- Insight to apps from single location
At Integro, our consultants are among the very first to deploy IBM Cloud Pak for Automation anywhere in the world, and they’re continuously working closely with IBM product experts to train, certify, and gain real world experience in the latest and greatest containerized product offerings even before they roll out to the public.
Which IBM ECM products are containerized? FileNet Content Manager (P8), Content Navigator, Content Search, Content Analyzer – all are included in IBM’s Cloud Pak for Automation. Products such as IBM Enterprise Records aren’t far behind – with estimated rollout dates for containerization by mid-2020. Case Manager and BPM have merged into what is now called BAW (Business Automation Workflow), which will be containerized in 2020 as well. Content Collector and Datacap will continue to integrate with both containerized and traditional implementations of FileNet Content Manager.
Thinking about making the move to IBM containers and Cloud Pak for Automation? Wondering if containerization is right for you? We recommend:
IBM containers may not be the right approach for everyone. Integro can guide you through an initial workshop to understand your existing FileNet environment, where you want to go, and help you determine what makes the most sense for your company (e.g., cloud or on-prem; native Kubernetes or RedHat OpenShift; AWS vs. Azure vs. IBM Cloud, etc.). The end result is a clearly outlined vision and roadmap, specific to your unique situation.
Proof of Concept
Integro can set you up with a Proof of Concept (POC) to get a feel for what a FileNet on IBM containers deployment would be like, and we’ll help you understand the steps involved to get to full production.
Upgrade to Current Versions
It’s important to know that you should be on the most current version before you can upgrade to FileNet on containers. Integro is IBM’s go-to partner for FileNet upgrades and our consultants have been actively helping customers upgrade to the most recent version, FileNet P8 5.5.4.
