What is Capture?

Capture is the process of ingesting, analyzing, and taking action on information that may flow into an organization as paper, email, email attachments, faxes, or numerous other formats. The goal is to automatically identify all key values and populate systems and trigger workflows. For example, invoices received as email attachments or paper in the mail can be auto-populated with vendor name, invoice number, due date, line item detail, and more with little to now human involvement. Today’s capture systems, such as IBM Datacap, can have a dramatic improvement on efficiency.

Reduce costs and improve decision making with enterprise data capture

The ability to capture documents and make their information available has become increasingly important for a number of reasons, in particular regulatory compliance requirements, information security, and the competitive business environment.
“In today’s competitive economy, companies that continue to conduct business on paper will find themselves at a disadvantage.” – Kevin Craine, author of the book Designing a Document Strategy, and white paper, The Five Phases of Capture.

Enterprise data capture can help significantly reduce labor and paper costs, deliver meaningful information for better, faster decision making and improve the responsiveness of customer service.
